WATCH: Dr. Bissell with New River Health District shares COVID-19 update

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Dr. Noelle Bissell, the director of the New River Health District, held a virtual news conference Monday afternoon about the local impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

This Zoom briefing comes after the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 9,252 new COVID-19 cases, 222 new virus-related hospitalizations, and 53 new virus-related deaths around the Commonwealth between Friday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 13.

The VDH says 227 of those new cases and one of those new deaths are from the following localities in the New River Health District:

  • Floyd County: 10 new cases
  • Giles County: 45 new cases
  • Montgomery County: 113 new cases and one new death
  • Pulaski County: 42 new cases
  • Radford: 17 new cases
