Dr. Bissell gives COVID-19 update for New River Health District

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The director of the New River Health District, Dr. Noelle Bissell, held a news conference Monday afternoon to discuss the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic.

This Zoom briefing comes after the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 8,943 new COVID-19 cases, 306 new virus-related hospitalizations between Friday, Sept. 17, and Monday, Sept. 20.

The VDH says 281 of those new cases and two of those new deaths are from the following localities in the New River Health District:

  • Floyd County: 28 new cases
  • Giles County: 71 new cases
  • Montgomery County: 104 new cases and two new deaths
  • Pulaski County: 52 new cases
  • Radford: 26 new cases
