Virginia transportation leaders to discuss impact of pandemic on Amtrak ridership

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Amtrak is expected to lift its 50-percent capacity restrictions this May.

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority Board is set to meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, April 26 to discuss the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on rail services and ways to encourage more riders to return.

Amtrak anticipates receiving between $12 million and $13 million in federal stimulus money.
