RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — All Community Vaccination Centers (CVCs) — including the one in Roanoke — will be closed again on Tuesday, according to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH).
VDH says the decision comes after some areas of the state are dealing with several inches of snow and freezing temperatures overnight.
On Tuesday, Jan. 4, health officials will decide whether to open the CVC sites on Wednesday, Jan. 5.
Those who made an appointment will be notified of the cancellation and can visit the VDH website to reschedule. VDH asks people who are rescheduling missed vaccine appointments do it as soon as possible.
Health officials say that second doses of Pfizer and Moderna vaccines can be extended up to 42 days safely after the first dose is given. If you miss the opportunity to get a second dose within 42 days, you should still proceed with a second dose and will be considered fully vaccinated.
CVCs offer first and second doses, along with booster shots. Health officials say more than 250,000 vaccine doses have been given at these centers since opening in October 2021.
