VDH: Total coronavirus cases climb to 17,731, as of Saturday; increase of 830 cases since Friday

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia health officials reported a total of 17,731 COVID-19 cases and 616 virus-related deaths across the Commonwealth as of Saturday morning. It is an increase of 830 cases and 35 deaths since Friday.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) confirmed 17,731 cases and 616 deaths are related to the virus. However, 752 cases and nine deaths are still reported as “probable.”

Local cases include:

  • Alleghany County: 6 cases and 4 hospitalizations
  • Amherst County: 12 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Appomattox County: 21 cases
  • Bedford County: 34 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Botetourt County: 28 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths
  • Buena Vista: 6 cases
  • Campbell County: 13 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Carroll County: 13 cases and 2 hospitalizations
  • Charlotte County: 9 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Craig County: 3 cases
  • Danville: 37 cases, 13 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Floyd County: 3 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Franklin County: 22 cases and 3 hospitalizations
  • Galax: 10 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Giles County: 4 cases
  • Grayson County: 2 cases
  • Halifax County: 19 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Henry County: 19 cases, 2 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Highland County: 2 cases
  • Lexington: 5 cases
  • Lynchburg: 62 cases, 5 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Martinsville: 2 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Montgomery County: 56 cases, 7 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Nelson County: 8 cases
  • Patrick County: 2 cases
  • Pittsylvania County: 14 cases, 7 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Pulaski County: 9 cases and 2 hospitalizations
  • Radford: 3 cases
  • Roanoke City: 80 cases and 5 hospitalizations
  • Roanoke County: 54 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Rockbridge County: 7 cases
  • Salem: 26 cases and 2 hospitalizations
  • Wythe County: 11 cases, 1 hospitalization, and 1 death
