VDH: Total cases increase by more than 2,300 in Virginia with total hospitalizations crossing 14K

Saturday's total is the third highest one-day total since the pandemic began

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — As of Saturday morning, Virginia health officials reported a total of 215,679 COVID-19 cases and 3,938 virus-related deaths, which includes 2,348 new confirmed and probable cases and 26 new confirmed and probable fatalities around the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) confirmed 193,754 cases and 3,628 deaths are related to the virus as of Saturday, Nov. 21. However, 21,925 cases and 310 deaths are still reported as “probable.”

According to VDH’s Saturday tally, more than 29,000 cases have been reported from the following localities in southwest and central Virginia:

  • Alleghany County: 271 cases, 16 hospitalizations, and 7 deaths
  • Amherst County: 715 cases, 29 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths
  • Appomattox County: 373 cases, 22 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths
  • Bath County: 51 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Bedford County: 1,676 cases, 68 hospitalizations, and 19 deaths
  • Bland County: 115 cases, 4 hospitalizations, and 5 deaths
  • Botetourt County: 685 cases, 32 hospitalizations, and 13 deaths
  • Buena Vista: 219 cases, 8 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Campbell County: 1,012 cases, 33 hospitalizations, and 12 deaths
  • Carroll County: 842 cases, 60 hospitalizations, and 29 deaths
  • Charlotte County: 267 cases, 25 hospitalizations, and 4 deaths
  • Covington: 118 cases and 5 hospitalizations
  • Craig County: 81 cases and 3 hospitalizations
  • Danville: 1,506 cases, 142 hospitalizations, and 48 deaths
  • Floyd County: 307 cases, 14 hospitalizations, and 15 deaths
  • Franklin County: 1,397 cases, 52 hospitalizations, and 13 deaths
  • Galax: 524 cases, 45 hospitalizations, and 30 deaths
  • Giles County: 234 cases and 8 hospitalizations
  • Grayson County: 483 cases, 37 hospitalizations, and 21 deaths
  • Halifax County: 772 cases, 21 hospitalizations, and 12 deaths
  • Henry County: 1,712 cases, 165 hospitalizations, and 40 deaths
  • Highland County: 14 cases
  • Lexington: 321 cases, 6 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths
  • Lynchburg: 2,469 cases, 75 hospitalizations, and 27 deaths
  • Martinsville: 624 cases, 75 hospitalizations, and 24 deaths
  • Montgomery County: 3,675 cases, 55 hospitalizations, and 14 deaths
  • Nelson County: 164 cases, 10 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths
  • Patrick County: 422 cases, 62 hospitalizations, and 28 deaths
  • Pittsylvania County: 1,586 cases, 101 hospitalizations, and 22 deaths
  • Pulaski County: 530 cases, 37 hospitalizations, and 12 deaths
  • Radford: 1,100 cases, 22 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths
  • Roanoke City: 3,820 cases, 125 hospitalizations, and 67 deaths
  • Roanoke County: 2,500 cases, 64 hospitalizations, and 29 deaths
  • Rockbridge County: 220 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths
  • Salem: 794 cases, 31 hospitalizations, and 20 deaths
  • Wythe County: 549 cases, 37 hospitalizations, and 7 deaths

Health officials say they have received 13,759 total records of confirmed and probable virus-related hospitalizations around Virginia as of Saturday.
