VDH reports 938 new COVID-19 cases in Virginia, 119,747 total cases

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 938 new COVID-19 cases and one new virus-related death in Sunday morning’s update, bringing the Commonwealth’s total coronavirus count up to 119,747 confirmed and probable diagnoses and 2,569 confirmed and probable fatalities.

Virginia health officials confirmed 114,514 cases and 2,436 deaths are related to the virus as of Sunday, Aug. 30. However, 5,233 cases and 133 deaths are still reported as “probable.”

According to VDH’s Sunday update, more than 8,000 cases have been reported from the following localities in southwest and central Virginia:

  • Alleghany County: 64 cases, 7 hospitalizations, and 4 deaths
  • Amherst County: 286 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Appomattox County: 166 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Bath County: 4 cases
  • Bedford County: 537 cases, 23 hospitalizations, and 8 deaths
  • Bland County: 47 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Botetourt County: 248 cases, 19 hospitalizations, and 8 deaths
  • Buena Vista: 73 cases, 4 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Campbell County: 317 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths
  • Carroll County: 395 cases, 35 hospitalizations, and 19 deaths
  • Charlotte County: 69 cases and 4 hospitalizations
  • Covington: 23 cases
  • Craig County: 21 cases and 1 hospitalization
  • Danville: 604 cases, 59 hospitalizations, and 14 deaths
  • Floyd County: 153 cases, 6 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths
  • Franklin County: 212 cases, 11 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Galax: 396 cases, 40 hospitalizations, and 28 deaths
  • Giles County: 41 cases and 2 hospitalizations
  • Grayson County: 190 cases, 19 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths
  • Halifax County: 205 cases, 6 hospitalizations, and 2 deaths
  • Henry County: 844 cases, 91 hospitalizations, and 16 deaths
  • Highland County: 6 cases
  • Lexington: 43 cases and 2 hospitalizations
  • Lynchburg: 980 cases, 28 hospitalizations, and 5 deaths
  • Martinsville: 326 cases, 49 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths
  • Montgomery County: 477 cases, 16 hospitalizations, and 4 deaths
  • Nelson County: 85 cases and 3 hospitalizations
  • Patrick County: 224 cases, 46 hospitalizations, and 11 deaths
  • Pittsylvania County: 768 cases, 36 hospitalizations, and 4 deaths
  • Pulaski County: 132 cases, 10 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths
  • Radford: 384 cases and 3 hospitalizations
  • Roanoke City: 1,189 cases, 44 hospitalizations, and 15 deaths
  • Roanoke County: 590 cases, 22 hospitalizations, and 4 deaths
  • Rockbridge County: 85 cases, 3 hospitalizations, and 1 death
  • Salem: 210 cases, 9 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths
  • Wythe County: 159 cases, 17 hospitalizations, and 3 deaths

Health officials say they have received a total of 9,555 confirmed and probable virus-related hospitalizations around Virginia related to the virus as of Sunday.
