RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia health officials reported 280 new COVID-19 cases and 10 new virus-related deaths as of Sunday, which brings the Commonwealth’s total coronavirus count up to 670,184 confirmed and probable cases and 11,018 confirmed and probable fatalities.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) confirmed 521,700 cases and 9,297 deaths are related to the virus as of Sunday, May 16. However, 148,484 cases and 1,721 deaths are still reported as “probable.”

The department has received 29,220 total records of confirmed and probable virus-related hospitalizations around Virginia as of Sunday, which is 20 more hospitalizations than VDH reported on Saturday.

VDH continues to be having issues with their server, so at this time, we cannot bring you statistical information for each locality in our area. We will continue to monitor VDH’s website and will update this information when it becomes available.

Note: The title of this article originally said there were 10 new hospitalizations reported in Virginia between Saturday and Sunday rather than 10 new deaths. That has since been corrected.
