Two Montgomery County employees test positive for coronavirus

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Officials in Montgomery County confirmed two employees tested positive for coronavirus late Friday.

As a result of the positive tests, the Montgomery County Government Center is now closed to both employees and the public for two weeks.

The following government functions will continue through this shutdown:

  • Emergency services and public safety;
  • Operations at the Montgomery County Court House (some restrictions apply);
  • Solid waste convenience sites and disposal;
  • Water and sewer services; and
  • Animal Control response for bite cases, incidents involving seriously injured animals, or official requests for services made by public safety officials in response to emergency incidents.

It is unknown when government offices may re-open. Gov. Ralph Northam (D-Va.) has issued a stay-at-home order for all Virginians until at least June.
