Sunday’s COVID-19 numbers include 79 new cases; 14 new virus-related deaths, according to VDH

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — On Sunday, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported a total of 677,744 COVID-19 cases and 11,307 virus-related deaths, including 73 new confirmed and probable cases and 14 new confirmed and probable fatalities from across the Commonwealth.

Virginia health officials confirmed 527,482 cases and 9,542 deaths are related to the virus as of Sunday, June 13. However, 150,262 cases and 1,765 deaths are still reported as “probable.”

According to VDH’s Sunday’s count, more than 103,000 cases have been reported from the following localities in southwest and central Virginia:

  • Alleghany County: 1,368 cases, 63 hospitalizations, and 49 deaths
  • Amherst County: 2,975 cases, 126 hospitalizations, and 40 deaths
  • Appomattox County: 1,621 cases, 72 hospitalizations, and 26 deaths
  • Bath County: 271 cases, 10 hospitalizations, and 11 deaths
  • Bedford County: 6,638 cases, 242 hospitalizations, and 109 deaths
  • Bland County: 683 cases, 27 hospitalizations, and 10 deaths
  • Botetourt County: 2,577 cases, 65 hospitalizations, and 38 deaths
  • Buena Vista: 927 cases, 24 hospitalizations, and 22 deaths
  • Campbell County: 4,583 cases, 185 hospitalizations, and 88 deaths
  • Carroll County: 2,718 cases, 225 hospitalizations, and 78 deaths
  • Charlotte County: 870 cases (-1), 56 hospitalizations, and 21 deaths
  • Covington: 612 cases, 32 hospitalizations, and 14 deaths
  • Craig County: 323 cases, 18 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths
  • Danville: 4,490 cases, 304 hospitalizations, and 141 deaths
  • Floyd County: 880 cases, 31 hospitalizations, and 23 deaths
  • Franklin County: 4,093 cases, 198 hospitalizations, and 80 deaths
  • Galax: 1,170 case, 95 hospitalizations, and 53 deaths
  • Giles County: 1,314 cases, 51 hospitalizations, and 22 deaths
  • Grayson County: 1,504 cases, 100 hospitalizations, and 37 deaths
  • Halifax County: 2,834 cases, 80 hospitalizations, and 78 deaths
  • Henry County: 4,671 cases, 372 hospitalizations, and 124 deaths
  • Highland County: 110 cases, 1 hospitalization, and 1 death
  • Lexington: 1,207 cases, 27 hospitalizations, and 32 deaths
  • Lynchburg: 7,839 cases, 344 hospitalizations, and 154 deaths
  • Martinsville: 1,622 cases, 166 hospitalizations, and 78 deaths
  • Montgomery County: 9,416 cases, 192 hospitalizations, and 96 deaths
  • Nelson County: 894 cases, 41 hospitalizations, and 13 deaths
  • Patrick County: 1,390 cases, 110 hospitalizations, and 43 deaths
  • Pittsylvania County: 5,590 cases, 257 hospitalizations, and 82 deaths
  • Pulaski County: 2,696 cases, 129 hospitalizations, and 62 deaths
  • Radford: 2,171 cases, 40 hospitalizations, and 19 deaths
  • Roanoke City: 8,567 cases, 259 hospitalizations, and 196 deaths
  • Roanoke County: 8,377 cases, 185 hospitalizations, and 146 deaths
  • Rockbridge County: 1,556 cases (-1), 54 hospitalizations, and 46 deaths
  • Salem: 2,207 cases, 73 hospitalizations, and 50 deaths
  • Wythe County: 2,710 cases, 159 hospitalizations, and 81 deaths

Since Saturday, June 12, there have been no localities in our region that have had a significant rise in cases of at least 10 or more. All localities that have announced new cases (shown in bold) have either had a reduction in cases or have reported less than 10 new cases since Saturday.

Across the Commonwealth, there were 14 new virus-related deaths. Of those new reported deaths, one was in Amherst County and one was in Grayson County.

The department has received 30,169 total records of confirmed and probable virus-related hospitalizations around Virginia as of Sunday, which is 19 more hospitalizations than VDH reported on Saturday.

Of these newly-reported hospitalizations from Sunday, only one was from our area which was from Wythe County.

VDH also reported the following revisions on Sunday.

  • Charlotte County has one fewer case
  • Rockbridge County has one fewer case
