Sovah Health reports 40 hospitalizations with 93% unvaccinated in Pittsylvania County

Coronavirus

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — President and CEO of Sovah Health, Alan Larson, released new COVID-19 numbers for Southside Virginia on Friday.

During a YouTube video, Larson said Sovah is reporting more than 40 COVID-19 positive hospitalizations with 93 percent unvaccinated across the campuses in Martinsville and Danville as of Friday, Oct. 15.

Larson also discussed the matter of elective or non-urgent surgery. He stated that, effective Thursday, Oct. 14, the health district resumed elective or non-urgent surgery back in the hospital. Larson says there were seven days they were not able to provide those cases, but they were able to reschedule them.

In addition, Larson spoke about some common questions asked including the concern of side effects of the coronavirus vaccine and/or booster shot. He went to say that the most common reactions to the shot are fatigue and headache and some people have fever and chills. He also stated that each person is a little bit different.

Larson also talked about getting the vaccine if you had already come down with COVID-19. He says that those people should because the virus does not provide enough antibodies.

At the end of the video, Larson went on to thank the healthcare workers who are coming to fight the pandemic every day.
