Roanoke College to hold online graduation ceremony

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke College announced Friday that its 2020 commencement, originally scheduled for May 2, will happen in an online ceremony for graduates on Saturday, May 2, at 11 a.m. via Facebook Live.

The live broadcast is expected to last about 15 minutes. Participants will include Roanoke College President Michael C. Maxey; Dr. Richard A. Smith, Vice President and Dean of the College; and the Rev. Christopher M. Bowen and Timothy L. Pickle Dean of the Chapel. They will award degrees for Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration programs.

The Class of 2020 is comprised of 429 graduates from 30 states and 10 countries.

Graduation was initially delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
