Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport reaches new milestone since start of pandemic

Coronavirus

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — With more people getting their coronavirus vaccines and events picking back up, airports — including one in the Roanoke Valley — are seeing a jump in numbers when it comes to travelers.

The Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport saw approximately 1,000 people flying on Friday, June 4, according to Brad Boettcher, director of marketing and air service development.

That’s the highest number of travelers at the airport in a single day since the coronavirus pandemic started.

This comes as the Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport continues to see an increase in travelers over the course of the year.
