Radford University creates graduation video in honor of Class of 2020

RADFORD, Va. (WFXR) — While Radford University’s graduating class may not have enjoyed the traditional pomp and circumstance of a commencement ceremony this, school officials still helped the Class of 2020 celebrate their accomplishments with a congratulatory video.

From orientation sessions to move-in day to special celebrations, the video features photos and videos from the highlights of the Class of 2020’s time at Radford University. In addition, Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill and Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Joe Scartelli conferred the students’ degrees, conveyed a few inspirational messages amid these uncertain times, and welcomed the students into the Radford University Alumni Association.

Hemphill also issued the following letter of tribute to the graduates alongside the video, which was released on Saturday, May 9:

Dear Radford University Class of 2020:

Today marks your official transition from Radford student to Highlander graduate.  You are now part of a global network of proud alumni!

Your graduation comes at an unprecedented time for our nation and our University.  Like each of you, I wish we were able to join together and celebrate this milestone.  However, this year’s celebration is different, but please know that it is just as special.

I cannot adequately express how proud I am of each and every one of you for pursuing your dreams and achieving your goals.  And, I wish each and every one of you great success in your careers and your lives.

I sincerely hope that all of you will return home to your alma mater in December for a deserving celebration and fitting tribute to you, the Radford University Class of 2020.  Congratulations, you did it!

Brian O. Hemphill, President of Radford University
