Online self-scheduling appointments for COVID-19 vaccine available in the New River Health District

Coronavirus

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — COVID-19 vaccine appointments are available Thursday and Friday for anyone age 18 and up for vaccination clinics in Christiansburg and Blacksburg.

The clinics will be held on Thursday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Blacksburg Community Center and on Friday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.

To make an appointment for either event, click here or call the Vaccine Scheduling Center at (540) 838-8222.

“Adding another method to get an appointment helps us vaccinate more people as quickly as possible. These different options give us flexibility to adapt to changes in vaccine supply and make sure we can use all of the doses and volunteers we have as efficiently as possible.”

Dr. Noelle Bissel, District Director of the New River Health District

The New River Health District (NRHD) includes the counties of Montgomery, Giles, Floyd, and Pulaski, as well as the City of Radford.

Each clinic will be hosted by Blacksburg and Christiansburg Pharmacies and will offer the Moderna vaccine.

The self-scheduling tool will be available as often as possible, based on vaccine supplies and schedules.

Individuals still have the option to continue seeking vaccine appointments by calling the Vaccine Scheduling Center, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pre-registration is also continuing at vaccinate.virginia.gov.
