UPDATE: Mount Rogers, New River, Roanoke City, Alleghany Health Districts adjust vaccination clinics ahead of winter weather

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.: The Mount Rogers Health District has postponed its Wytheville vaccine clinic on Thursday.

The clinic has been moved to Friday, due to winter weather forecast for the region.

Those who had an appointment for Thursday will still have an appointment slated for Friday at the same time and location as previously announced.

There is no need to contact the health department about the change unless a patient has specific questions related to their appointment, or needs to reschedule for another day.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: The New River Health District has decided to closed its COVID-19 vaccination center for Thursday because of the impending weather.

However, the health district says individuals with appointments scheduled for Thursday may still be seen at the same time slot on Wednesday or Friday as long as you bring identification with you.

You are not required to call ahead, but if you wait until Friday, you are encouraged to check the New River Health District’s Facebook page or call (540) 585-3300 before coming by the vaccination site because it may have a delayed opening.

(WFXR) — From the New River Valley to the Roanoke Valley and the Alleghany Highlands, coronavirus vaccination clinics scheduled for Thursday have been adjusted in some form due to concerns about the forecasts for inclement weather overnight.

The New River Health District will try to honor appointments scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 on either Wednesday, Feb. 17 or Friday, Feb. 19. You are asked to arrive at the same time as your scheduled appointment on Thursday.

According to New River Valley health officials, the vaccination clinic is open each week day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Even though the New River Health District has not officially delayed or canceled appointments for Thursday, if the weather does become unsafe enough to warrant such actions, you will receive a call alerting you of the change by 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts have officially postponed Thursday’s vaccination clinic at the Berglund Center until Friday.

If you have an appointment for Thursday’s clinic, you are asked to arrive at the Berglund Center on Friday one hour later than your original appointment time.

In other words, if you have a noon appointment on Thursday, you should come to the Berglund Center at 1 p.m. on Friday.
