Montgomery County Public Schools announces inclement weather days for staff to receive booster vaccine

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — After more than 1,400 Montgomery County Public Schools staff members received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine in January, the school district is making plans to administer the second dose in February.

Montgomery County Public Schools says each school will have an inclement weather day assigned between Feb. 15 and Feb. 19 in order to allow staff members to receive their booster vaccine. Those inclement weather days are scheduled as follows:

  • Monday, Feb. 15: Auburn High School, Auburn Middle School, Christiansburg High School, Christiansburg Middle School, and Montgomery Central
  • Tuesday, Feb. 16: Blacksburg High School, Blacksburg Middle School, Eastern Montgomery High School, and Shawsville Middle School
  • Thursday, Feb. 18: Auburn Elementary School, Belview Elementary School, Christiansburg Elementary School, Christiansburg Primary School, and Falling Branch Elementary School
  • Friday, Feb. 19: Eastern Montgomery Elementary School, Gilbert Linkous Elementary School, Harding Avenue Elementary School, Kipps Elementary School, Margaret Beeks Elementary, and Price’s Fork Elementary School

During these planned inclement weather days, school officials say schools will be closed to students, who will receive an inclement weather day assignment via Google Classroom. In addition, teachers are not required to report to the building on these inclement weather days.
