UPDATE: VDH confirms 5,747 COVID-19 cases, 149 deaths; Carilion reports treating 87 total patients, 3 currently hospitalized

UPDATE 12:31 p.m.: Carilion Clinic announced Monday afternoon that three COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized at Carilion facilities.

Hospital officials say those three patients are among 87 patients who have tested positive for coronavirus and received treated at Carilion.

(WFXR) — On Monday morning, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported a total of 5,747 coronavirus cases in the Commonwealth, along with 903 hospitalizations and 149 virus-related deaths.

According to VDH’s current tally, there are more than 270 cases spread out among the following localities in southwest and central Virginia:

  • Covington: 1
  • Craig County: 2
  • Danville: 21
  • Floyd County: 1
  • Franklin County: 14
  • Galax: 1
  • Giles County: 4
  • Halifax County: 7
  • Henry County: 8
  • Lexington: 3
  • Lynchburg: 33
  • Montgomery County: 32
  • Nelson County: 5
  • Pittsylvania County: 4
  • Pulaski County: 4
  • Radford: 1
  • Roanoke City: 21
  • Roanoke County: 18
  • Rockbridge County: 3
  • Salem: 1
  • Wythe County: 7

On Monday, April 13, VDH reported one new case in Bedford County, one in Botetourt County, one in Campbell County, one in Danville, one in Giles County, two in Lynchburg, one in Roanoke City, and four in Roanoke County since Sunday, April 12.

In addition, health officials say VDH has received 41,401 COVID-19 test results as of Monday.
