MARION, Va. (WFXR) — Three health districts in far southwest Virginia have announced they are moving into Phase 2 of COVID-19 vaccinations beginning on Wednesday.

These health districts include the Mount Rogers Health District — including the cities of Bristol and Galax, as well as Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe counties — along with the Cumberland Plateau and Lenowisco health districts.

“The transition to Phase 2 means that all residents of far Southwest Virginia age 16 and older are now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. We are overjoyed to make this transition and be able to vaccinate all of our adult population. Vaccination is our best way out of this pandemic and back toward normal life.”

Dr. Karen Shelton, Health Director of the Mount Rogers Health District
