Gov. Northam orders Virginia flags to fly at half-staff in honor of 500K Americans who died from coronavirus

RICHMOND, Va. (WFXR) — Out of respect for the more than 500,000 Americans — including more than 7,400 Virginians — who have died from COVID-19, Gov. Ralph Northam ordered Monday night that flags be flown at half-staff for the rest of the week.

This order from Northam comes after President Joe Biden’s proclamation to lower the United States flag in honor of the victims of the coronavirus pandemic.

From Monday, Feb. 22 until sunset on Friday, Feb. 26, Northam says all flags for the United States of America and for the Commonwealth of Virginia are to remain at half-staff over the state Capitol and all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in Virginia.
