ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Several staff members at a Rockbridge County middle school are required to quarantine after another staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Rockbridge County Public Schools’ Facebook post on Monday, Nov. 30, the staff member who tested positive works at Maury River Middle School.
In addition, after working alongside the health department, the school district says five additional staff members have been classified as close contacts, which means those staff members will be required to quarantine.
Even though no students were identified as close contacts, Rockbridge County school officials say all areas the staff member worked in were set to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on Monday.
While Rockbridge County Public Schools says there is no need for people to quarantine unless instructed to do so by health officials, people are encouraged self-monitor for symptoms, stay home when sick, wear face coverings in public, maintain social distancing, and practice frequent and thorough hand washing.
