Emergency ordinance suspends Blacksburg Transit fares, requires face coverings on buses

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — On Tuesday, the Town of Blacksburg adopted a limited emergency ordinance that will apply to Blacksburg Transit operations.

Ordinance #1966 suspends Blacksburg Transit fares and requires riders to continue wearing masks unless the CDC changes their COVID-19 guidelines.

Town officials say the ordinance will be in effect for 90 days.

Ordinance #1956, which continued the limitations on the number of persons in restaurants and at gatherings, as well as face mask requirements, is set to expire on Sunday, May 16.

The ordinance went into effect last fall. Once it expires, Town officials say they will follow applicable state requirements and CDC guidance regarding COVID-19.
