ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke City Schools is advising parents about the risk of transportation delays in the coming days due to bus driver absences which are increasing.

According to the district, parents may receive a robocall about their student’s bus.

If you receive one, you are urged to listen to it carefully.

“We understand this is frustrating to hear, and please know that we are working with Durham (the district’s bus provider), and they are doing everything they can to keep bus routes on schedule while also keeping our students and staff safe”

Statement from Roanoke City Schools

The district says that if you have the ability over the course of the next few weeks to provide alternate transportation for your student(s), please consider doing so.

They say that if you do drive, check your school’s procedures for car riders.
