ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — On Tuesday morning, Dr. Cynthia Morrow — the director of the Roanoke City and Alleghany Health Districts — held an online briefing about the region’s current response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the hepatitis A situation, and Sexually Awareness Infections (STI) Awareness Week.

You can read the data shared by Morrow during her Zoom update on Tuesday, April 12 below:

“Overall, we are seeing very low levels of COVID-19 activity as seen by low case counts, only one COVID-19-associated hospitalization, our waste water surveillance data, and our syndromic surveillance data,” the health districts said in a statement after the news conference.

Health officials say they plan to continue holding these briefings on a biweekly basis in order to keep the public informed about the latest coronavirus data, as well as other public health topics.
