LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Starting this Friday, the Central Virginia Health District will provide weekly COVID-19 testing — for free!

The first event will be held at the Lynchburg Health Department at 307 Alleghany Avenue from 9 a.m. to noon on Friday, Nov. 5. Those wishing to attend will need to park and walk to the testing area.

No appointment is needed, and all individuals are welcome, regardless of COVID-19 exposure and presence of symptoms.

Testing will be performed using rapid PCR tests, meaning results can be available 20 minutes following the test.

Additional free testing event times and locations are listed below:

  • Tuesday, Nov. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

While testing is an important step in mitigating the spread of the coronavirus, the Central Virginia Health District reminds residents that vaccination, masking, socially distancing and frequent handwashing are tools proven effective in reducing its spread, also.

If you have any questions, please email cvhdcovidtesting@vdh.virginia.gov.

To retain a copy of your vaccination record or for more information regarding vaccinations, you can visit the health district’s website.
