Catabwa Valley Farmers Market does not plan to reopen for 2020 season

CATABWA, Va. (WFXR) — The Catabwa Valley Farmers Market, originally scheduled to reopen May 7, says it will remain closed until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several vendors will sell their products at other markets or roadside stands:

  • Flower Haven – hanging baskets, vegetable and flower plants, and baked goods; call Lindsey Sowers at (540) 598-2047 or Lindsey Sowers (540) 598-1784 for directions, business hours, or to place an order; no calls on Sundays
  • Meg Hibbert, the Cookie Lady – baked goods available at the Salem Farmers Market for pickup only on Saturdays between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; call or message (540) 354-8616 by Thursday at 7 p.m. to place an order
  • Wanza Spradlin, WanZa’s Treasures – canvas paintings and paintings on wooden pieces; see Facebook page for examples and email wanzastreasures@earthlink.net
  • Hillside Plants and Produce, Dean, Laura, and Jeff Bower – selling vegetable plants, hanging baskets, and flowers from their greenhouse in Fincastle; call (540) 537-2840 anytime before 9 p.m., but not on Sundays, for directions and availability; they will be open Fridays, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 p.m. to 3 p.m. beginning on May 1
  • Alive Ricucci, Bear Tree Farm – fabric crafts and baked goods; beginning on May 4, the farm will be open and goods may be picked up on Thursdays; you must place and order by 6 p.m. on Tuesday by calling (540) 309-8573; no calls before 9 a.m. or after 9 p.m.
  • Pam and Steve Hall, Hall’s Garden – selling from their home in Catabwa starting Thursday, May 7; call (540) 580-1533 or (540) 580-1313 for directions
  • Pam and Frank Garman, Walnut Hill Farm – grass-fed beef and pork products; not open yet; call (540) 312-7037, (540) 384-5009, or email fgarman@hughes.net
