BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) — The Town of Bedford has rolled out a second round of grants for small businesses impacted by the pandemic.
Mary Zirkle, Bedford’s Economic Development Coordinator, says in that first round, 28 retailers and restaurants applied for and received $5,000 grants to support costs like rent and utilities.
This next round of grants is meant to target businesses that didn’t qualify for the first round.
“They actually also increased the threshold of loss to 50 percent from 25 percent in order to capture those businesses that were fully shut down,” said Zirkle, “such as barbershops, other personal or professional services that didn’t qualify for the first round.”
In addition to rent and utilities, businesses can also use the grants on things like marketing and setting up an online store to help adapt to limitations that the pandemic has caused.
