Averett University Athletics says spectators banned from athletic events until further notice


DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) — Averett University’s athletics department announced a significant change to its spectator policy via social media Thursday night in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Averett Athletics shared the following statement on Twitter:

In an effort to be more vigilant in our continued COVID-19 response and under the guidance of the Health Department, Averett University is reducing the number of external visitors to campus at this time and will not allow spectators at our athletics events until further notice.

As of Wednesday, Sept. 30, Averett University’s coronavirus dashboard says there are nine positive cases in isolation, 10 people waiting on test results, and 62 people currently in quarantine.
