(WFXR) — On Wednesday, hospitals around the “near southwest” region of Virginia — which covers Carilion, Centra, Sovah, and VA facilities — reported a total of 285 hospitalized coronavirus patients, as well as 34 patients under investigation.
In a week-to-week comparison, the number of hospitalizations at these facilities has been generally increasing due to COVID-19.
However, between the week of Wednesday, Dec. 2, and Wednesday, Dec. 9, health officials only reported five new confirmed virus-related hospitalizations and seven new pending hospitalizations from the near southwest region, which is a smaller increase than seen in past weeks.
Meanwhile, on Dec. 9, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) reported 125 new virus-related hospitalizations around the Commonwealth.
As for the near southwest Virginia region, the only anomaly in the data over the last seven weeks — which are listed blow — was the week of Nov. 4, where the total hospitalizations dropped by 14 from the previous week.
