ROCKY MOUNT, Va. (WFXR) — Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital unveiled new facilities on Thursday.

New operating rooms and a new pharmacy were unveiled as part of the first phase of an expansion project. The hospital says the new rooms will allow them to offer more specialty services including hand surgery, plastic surgery, OBGYN and podiatry services. The new additions mean patients will not have to leave the community to get healthcare.

“This is a very exciting time and we are happy to be able to give this project towards our community here in Franklin County and to help keep our community here at this hospital,” says Carl Cline, Vice President and Administrator at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.

The old operating rooms were originally built in the 1950’s. The new high-tech operating rooms will allow doctors to handle more complex surgeries in Franklin County.
