UPDATE: Halifax County 911 system back in service

UPDATE– The Halifax County 911 telephone system is now back in service. Anyone who needs to place an emergency call can dial 911. Non-Emergency calls can also resume by dialing (434)476-3334.

HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Officials in Halifax County report a widespread outage impacting the county’s 911 system.

A Facebook post Monday afternoon said, “Halifax County is currently experiencing phone line issues with its emergency and non-emergency phone lines. Residents may not be able to dial 9-1-1 County-wide. This includes Cell Phone and Land Lines.”

There is no word on when service may be restored. Residents with an emergency should call (434) 476-3334, a dispatcher told WFXR News.

The county reports it is working with with “all phone companies” to get service restored.
