$22M lottery winner splits prize with best friend

Good News

(WFXR) – A lottery winner in Wisconsin is splitting a massive $22 million jackpot with his best friend.

Nearly 20 years ago, Thomas Cook made a deal with his friend, Joseph Feeney, that if either of them ever won the lottery, they would share the winnings.

A two-dollar Powerball ticket later, both men are now millionaires – 11 times over (before taxes).

The ticket, purchased at a gas station back in June by Cook, ended up matching all of the numbers.

When Cook told Feeney that he won the Powerball and that he would be splitting it with him, Feeney couldn’t believe it.

The friends chose the lump sum cash option and ended up with around $5.7 million each, after taxes.

They say they are looking forward to traveling and having more family time.
