SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Each Friday on “Good Day Virginia” is Foodie Friday, we highlight restaurants, chefs, and more throughout southwest Virginia. This Friday we highlighted a brand-new restaurant in Salem called the West Salem Diner.

The building that houses the diner has a rich history and used to be Chevrolet Dealership in the 1920s.

Manager of the West Salem Diner, Steven Lyons walked WFXR’s Hazelmarie Anderson through a flavorful diner journey. The journey included some diner staples like biscuits and gravy and a Smash Burger.

The West Salem Diner serves lunch and breakfast and is open 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The diner will be opened during special hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for the Salem Christmas Parade.

The diner offers gluten-free options as well as vegetarian options.
