FEMA’s Prepareathon coming to Center in the Square

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Prepareathon is a national event which is sponsored by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and it’s coming to Roanoke’s Center in the Square on this Saturday.

The Prepareathon encourages communities and citizens to take action to prepare themselves and their property against disasters which could affect their community. The event also showcases what to do to stay safe, how to take action to increase preparedness and to improve their ability to recover from a disaster.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Advance Auto Parts Atrium inside Center in the Square.

Roanoke’s Prepareathon events will include:

  • Learning about your local flood hazards
  • Educating children and adults about why being prepared is important
  • Building people’s confidence in their ability to take preparedness actions
  • Train people on how to take action at home, at work and at play
