SALEM, Va. (WFXR) — Fans of old-time westerns and vintage family television shows headed to the Happy Trails Virginia Style media convention this weekend in Salem.

The convention was scheduled for Friday, April 16 through Sunday, April 18 at the CommUNITY Church at 1923 East Main Street.

The celebrities also held panels and workshops on filmmaking and acting.

Among those attending were Don Collier, who acted in “Bonanza,” “Gunsmoke,” and “The Young Riders;” Rebecca Holden from “Knight Rider;” and Michael Pare from “The Greatest American Hero” and the film, “Eddie and the Cruisers.”

Kathy Garver, who starred as Cissy on television’s “Family Affair,” says it’s a welcome chance to get out and meet people in person after a year of pandemic.

“It’s absolutely wonderful. It’s a whole different dynamic than seeing someone on zoom or on your social media. Just to feel the energy that is coming from a person and to feel their vibes makes a whole social interaction blessed and fabulous.”

The proceeds from the Happy Trails media convention go to cancer research.
