‘Racquets for Reading’ helps to bring books for Nelson County Elementary School students

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Nelson County Schools has announced it has recently been awarded a grant that will provide books to elementary school students.

“Racquets for Reading” will provide books as well as Go Bananas! cards and fun giveaways to preschool and kindergarten students in Nelson County.

In total, 70 preschoolers and kindergarteners at Tye River Elementary School and 50 kindergarteners at Rockfish River Elementary School will benefit.

Thus far, 1,055 preschoolers and kindergarteners have benefited from the program in Albemarle, Appomattox, Cumberland, Greene, Madison, Nelson and Patrick Counties as well as the City of Martinsville.
