Averett University to launch four new online-based academic progams

Education

DANVILLE, Va. (WFXR) – With grant funding from the Danville Regional Foundation (DRF), along with responses to the demands of the marketplace, Averett University is announcing the launch of four new academic programs through Averett Online as well as a conversion to a new student information system (SIS).

The following online degree programs, most of which will begin in 2020, are under development, include:

  • Entrepreneurship and Small Business Operation
  • Healthcare Administration
  • Information Systems/Security
  • Psychology

While these programs are intended for adult learners, some programs will also serve as traditional, on-campus Averett students.

The new SIS will provide the necessary technological infrastructure to support this expansion in online programs.

“We are deeply grateful to the Danville Regional Foundation for its continued support of Averett. We understand that for our region to grow socioeconomically, the educational attainment of our citizens must be raised, and as the only baccalaureate degree-granting institution in the area, Averett is a major factor in making this happen. This significant investment by DRF will make it possible for students to enhance their careers and achieve educational goals for years to come.”

Dr. Tiffany M. Franks, Averett University President

The four academic programs were chosen after listening to local industry leaders, an expansive data review and an analysis of the institution’s strengths.

Below, is a detailed look at each of the new programs offered online.
