Major traffic pattern changes are planned for the area around the Tanglewood Mall.
A diverging-diamond interchange will be installed at the intersection of Electric Road and U.S. 220 in order to combat traffic congestion.
Officials have committed $17.5 million for the new traffic pattern.
The Commonwealth Transportation Board confirmed Wednesday it will put $11.8 million towards project.
While plans are in the works, the project isn’t slated to begin until 2028.
