Diverging-diamond interchange planned for Tanglewood exit

News

Major traffic pattern changes are planned for the area around the Tanglewood Mall.

A diverging-diamond interchange will be installed at the intersection of Electric Road and U.S. 220 in order to combat traffic congestion.

Officials have committed $17.5 million for the new traffic pattern.

The Commonwealth Transportation Board confirmed Wednesday it will put $11.8 million towards project.

While plans are in the works, the project isn’t slated to begin until 2028.

A diverging-diamond interchange is in use at the intersection of I-581 and Valley View Boulevard near the Target and Regal Valley View theater.
