Deputies uncover meth and heroin in Martinsville home


The Henry County Sheriff’s Office discovered heroin and methamphetamine after concluding an undercover drug investigation.

On July 3, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 786 Hidden Valley Drive in Martinsville. 

This was the second search warrant that has been executed at the home during the course of the 16-month operation.

Authorities seized approximately one-quarter of a pound of methamphetamine and a small quantity of heroin.  Officials also discovered six firearms, body armor, $7800.00 in U.S. Currency, 8 vehicles, 4 motorcycles, 3 ATVs, 1 boat, 1 camper and 1 enclosed trailer.

The approximate street value of the narcotics seized is more than $8,000.00.

David Brandon Cannaday, 31, was arrested and charged with possession of 100 grams or more of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possessing a controlled substance while simultaneously possessing a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Cannaday is currently held in the Henry County Jail without bond. The incident remains under investigation, additional charges are anticipated.
