ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — A crash on Interstate 581 slowed traffic in the area near Valley View Mall Friday afternoon.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reported the crash at mile marker 2.2, though traffic backups stretched for 1.5 miles, according to VDOT cameras.
A WFXR News crew at the scene said at least one vehicle was blocking the southbound left and center lanes. Several pylons intended to prevent crossover crashes were damaged. It is unclear how many other vehicles may be involved in this crash.
The scene has been cleared.
