Cooling station opens during extreme heat wave

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Salvation Army of Lynchburg has opened a cooling station for anyone in need of shelter from the heat.

The cooling station is open at the Center of Hope, 2211 Park Avenue, in Lynchburg.

When temperatures rise above 90 degrees, a hydration station and cool place is providing for those without air conditioning.

The CDC advises people to seek shelter anytime there is a concern of a possible heat-related illness.

Anyone showing symptoms of a heat-related illness should seek medical attention immediately.
