BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Construction on Interstate 81 in Botetourt County could cause delays and frustration for drivers starting Wednesday night.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says paving and rehabilitation on two bridges between mile marker 149.7 and 150.6 would result in the closure of I-81’s southbound right lane at exit 150 on Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22. The closures will take place both nights between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the next morning.
On Friday, August 23, VDoT plans another lane closure on the northbound right lane of I-81 at exit 150 for bridge rehabilitation. The closure begins at 8 p.m. Friday and ends Saturday, August 24, at 10 a.m.
Paving will again close the right lane of I-81 southbound at exit 150 beginning Saturday at 8 p.m. until Sunday, August 25, at 10 a.m.
VDoT says drivers may experience delays as a result of the construction. It said motorcycle drivers are urged to use the left lanes in the construction area.
