Roanoke Co. Police Officer accused of falsifying his time sheets

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – Roanoke County Police are investigating one of their own.

33 year- old Steven W. McChesney is being charged with one count of obtaining money by false pretense, in excess of $200. He is also being charged with two counts of obtaining money by false pretense, in excess of $500

According to a news release from the Roanoke County Police Department, an internal investigation revealed McChesney recorded time on his time sheets that had not been worked over a two year period. He was placed on paid administrative leave back in June, when the discovery was made.

McChesney was employed with the Roanoke County Police Department from 2013-2015, left and returned in 2016.

A special prosecutor of Lynchburg has been assigned to the case.

Steven W. McChesney was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
