Police arrest man who reportedly murdered his wife

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WFXR News) — Martinsville Police have arrested David Dillon Ives, who reportedly murdered his 25-year-old wife, Amber Ives.

According to officials, Ives was arrested on Thursday.

Police said that on Monday, August 12 officers responded to a reported suicide at 735 Onieda Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found Amber injured with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

After results from the medical examiner’s office determined that the case was not a suicide, but a homicide, further information obtained during the investigation by the Martinsville Police Department and the Virginia State Police, David was charged.

Police said that Ives had been charged with 2nd-degree murder, use of a firearm in committing a felony, discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling, and reckless handling of a firearm.

He is currently being held without bond.

According to police, even though an arrest has been made, this is still an ongoing investigation.
