Bomb threat reported at Bassett High School

BASSETT, Va. (WFXR) – On Friday at approximately 12 p.m., a threatening message was discovered at Bassett High School.

Henry County Sheriff’s Office and school officials worked together to ensure students and staff were safe.

During an investigation into the matter, a female student was developed as a suspect. That student ultimately confessed the threat was a hoax and there never was a threat. Investigators will be working with juvenile intake in regards to potential charges.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is urging parents to have conversations with their children, encouraging them to quickly report any type of threat they may hear and also not be involved in acts such as these so they may avoid having serious legal repercussions.

If anyone has any information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or at Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program is offering rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and substance of the information will ultimately determine the amount of reward paid.
