FLOYD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Officials in Floyd County say they hope to cancel the boil water notice currently in effect by 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
A water line break on Tuesday caused a county-wide water outage. Water was restored soon after the line was replaced, but residents are now required to boil their drinking water.
Two clean water samples must be submitted to the Virginia Department of Health before the boil notice can be cancelled.
Officials say residents should bring water to a rolling boil one minute before consumption to kill any bacteria.
