Blue Bell Ice Cream announces voluntary recall of Butter Crunch half-gallon ice cream due to possible foreign object

SYLACAUGA, AL. (WFXR) – Blue Bell Ice Cream has announced it is voluntarily recalling a select lot of half-gallon Butter Crunch Ice Cream, produced on a specific line on Aug. 26, 2019 due to a risk the product may contain a foreign object.

The issue was discovered by a consumer who found a piece of a plastic tool in a half-gallon of Butter Crunch Ice Cream.

The company conducted an investigation and revealed the broken tool was inadvertently incorporated into production in a small amount of product released for public consumption.

The recalled ice cream has a product code of 082621222. The code can be found on the top of the packaging lid.

The affected Butter Crunch Ice Cream half-gallons were distributed in parts of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

There have been no reported injuries due to the consumption of the product, to date.

Consumers who purchased this product can return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
