Blacksburg’s Sustainability Week begins Saturday

BLACKSBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A week-long series of events to bring awareness of sustainable living is set to begin in the town of Blacksburg this weekend.

It will be the 13th year of Sustainability Week which features 25 events including a bike parade led by Blacksburg Mayor Leslie Hager Smith, an electric car display, and a sustainable brewery tour.

According to a statement from the Town of Blacksburg, the aim of the series is to encourage the community to communicate about sustainable living and adopt sustainable practices in their homes and the community.

The week — organized in partnership with the town of Blacksburg, Virginia Tech, and Sustainable Blacksburg, a non-profit organization — launches noon on Saturday, Sept. 14 and ends Sunday, Sept. 22.
