LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – University of Lynchburg officials have committed to giving a laptop to every new student attending the school who has filed the FAFSA.

The laptops will be loaned to students for the duration of their time at the University – students may even choose between a Dell or an Apple.

Pending future graduation from the school, new students who receive a laptop will be able to keep the computer.

Officials say this is a pilot program but they say they plan to continue the program in the future.

“We’re really excited to be able to offer all incoming freshmen and transfer students a computer to ensure they can all be successful at Lynchburg.”

Rita Detwiler, Vice President for Enrollment Management

For students to be eligible for the laptop, they must file the 2021-22 FAFSA.

The laptop initiative will also make faculty and students more flexible as the University’s COVID-19 Task Force prepares for the fall semester that may still include at least a portion of online or hybrid learning.
