Masks required at Campbell County Public Schools under new 2021-2022 plan

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Campbell County Public Schools changed its mask policy from late July to now have students, teachers, and staff required to wear masks regardless of vaccination status.

In a Facebook post, the district says this change goes into effect at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12 and masks will also be required during the open house events on that day.

School officials made these changes after the CDC released updated guidance related to masks on Aug. 4 and Gov. Ralph Northam issued a statement indicated that all schools should comply with the new guidance the next day.

“We realize that masking is unpopular and hope to rescind this order as soon as conditions improve, and it is legally possible,” Campbell County Public Schools wrote on Facebook on Wednesday, Aug. 11.
